MBS International Airport

formally named Tri City Airport, is a special municipality owned by the City of Midland, City of Saginaw and County of Bay. The airport is located in Freeland, Michigan, which is centrally located between the three owning communities.

The airport is governed by a nine member commission, made up of three representatives from each owning community. MBS is proud to provide the traveling public scheduled air service from two major airline carriers. At MBS you will be sure to find plenty of safe, inexpensive parking, both long and short term, with only a short walking distance to the passenger terminal.

Airport Commission

MBS International Airport is owned by the City of Midland, County of Bay and City of Saginaw and is governed by a nine-member commission made up of three representatives from each community. Representatives are appointed to the commission by the representing government entity. The commission meets monthly and the public is welcome to attend meetings.

James Canders MBS International Airport, Director

MBS International Airport is directed by James Canders, who joined the airport in 2018 as assistant airport manager, and was named the airport director in 2020. After graduating from Daniel Webster College in Aviation Management, he served four years in the US Army. He began his career in airport management in Albany, New York followed by various roles in operations and administration in Grand Rapids, MI, Baghdad, Iraq, Battle Creek, MI and Bangor, ME before coming to MBS.

The airport employs 25 staff members in a variety of positions, including administration, maintenance, ARFF and operations.

Courtney Page Assistant Airport Director

On September 8, 2021, Courtney was hired as Assistant Airport Director by MBS International Airport. She has a BS in Aviation Management and Operations from Western Michigan University. Before coming to MBS, she worked for the airlines in many positions.  Courtney has focused most of her career on air service/development. She oversees the ARFF/Operations and Maintenance Departments.

Jennifer Dymora Finance Manager

Jennifer was new to the aviation world when she joined MBS as the Finance Manager in 2023. She is a graduate of Baker College and a licensed CPA. Jennifer flies solo handling all aspects of accounting and finance, from accounts receivables/payables to payroll, budgeting, reporting, grant accounting and benefits management.

Megan Murray ARFF/Operations Manager

Megan joined the MBS International Airport team in May of 2023. She has a Bachelor of Science in Aviation Management and Operations with a minor in General Business from Western Michigan University. Before joining MBS, Megan worked in terminal management and operation roles with the South Bend International Airport in South Bend, Indiana and as the Assistant Airport Manager for the Sawyer International Airport in Gwinn, Michigan. Megan oversees the ARFF/Operations Department

Brad Becker Airfield/Facilities Maintenance Manager

On September 9, 1999, Brad was hired as a Maintenance employee by MBS International Airport.  During his career at MBS Brad has performed many duties from buildings, grounds, and most importantly snow removal operations on the Airport.  In October 2013, Brad became Airfield/Facilities Maintenance Manager.  Brad oversees a crew of 6 Maintenance Technicians, 2 Mechanic, and 3 Custodians.

Policies, Rules & Regulations

The Airport Rules & Regulations have been adopted by the MBS International Airport Commission, and are issued pursuant to the authority vested with the MBS International Airport Commission by the Aeronautics Code of the State of Michigan, for the construction and operation of airports under it control and to safeguard the public.
